The Light Which Shines

Truth be told, I hated poetry in school. GASP. I was big on subjects that I could take notes and rewrite them for hours until I had the lessons memorized. Reading, while could have been done this way, just wasn't the same. I like to read, actually love it now, but when it came to course reading I just wasn't interested. It hasn't been until recently that I have begun to appreciate the nuances and importance of some of the readings I was "forced" to absorb as a kid. Maya Angelou was a role model, inspiration and icon from the 20th and 21st century. Her words can relate to so many people from so many backgrounds. She has put into words the soul feelings that I can't ever figure out how to share. Practical life advice and sage words about courage, love and the gift of life. This quote is one of my favorites. Well, of the shorter ones. :)
